Praise God!

1 Corinthians 5:5 To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.

Psalms 150:1 Praise ye the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power.

Psalms 97:12 Rejoice in the LORD, ye righteous; and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness

This reminds me of the hymn: To God be the Glory, Great things he hath done

To God be the glory, great things He hath done,
So loved He the world that He gave us His Son,
Who yielded His life our redemption to win,
And opened the life-gate that all may go in.
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
Let the earth hear His voice;
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
Let the people rejoice;
Oh, come to the Father, through Jesus the Son,
And give Him the glory; great things He hath done.
Oh, perfect redemption, the purchase of blood,
To every believer the promise of God;
The vilest offender who truly believes,
That moment from Jesus a pardon receives.
Great things He hath taught us, great things He hath done,
And great our rejoicing through Jesus the Son;
But purer, and higher, and greater will be
Our wonder, our transport when Jesus we see.

Father God, I pray you will fill my soul this morning from your living words.  May the church give all praise and glory to you Father.  May we continue to rejoice in the blessings we have received.  Amen

Day 7 -Book of Isaiah – Immanuel

Today I am reading from Chapters 7 -11 in Isaiah.  As we continue this study, we read God is sending the house of David a sign.  As I think about this sign, I wonder if God’s people really got the message.  Did it resonate with them?  Did they know it was going to have an impact so astounding it would literally shake up the entire world for years and years to come?

We read: Isaiah 7:14

“Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.”

In Isaiah 9:6-7

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

What are your favorite ways of addressing our Father God?

By searching the bible, you are able to get a really good idea of who God is and his promises.

  1. I AM THAT I AM – in Exodus 3:14 we read:  God telling the Israelites, I AM has sent me to you. We know God is eternally present. He was, he is and he will always be.     I don’t know about you but this gives me so much joy and peace.
  2. I am the Alpha and Omega – in  Revelation 1:7-9
  3. Lamb of God – John 1:29  Behold the Lamb of God takes away the sin of the world.
  4. Abba – Romans 8:15
  5. Almighty –  Genesis 7:1  I am the Almighty God, walk before me
  6. Bread of Life – John 6:35
  7. Captain – Hebrews 2:10 captain of their salvation
  8. Comforter –  John 14:26 he shall teach you all things
  9. Light of the World – John 8:12 he that follows me shall not walk in darkness
  10. Living God – Daniel 6:20
  11. Love –  1 John 4:8 for God is love.
  12. Merciful – Jeremiah 3:12 for I am merciful and not keep anger forever.
  13. Messiah – John 4:25  which is called Christ will come
  14. Saviour – Like 2:11
  15. Truth – John 14:6
  16. Rabboni – John 20:16
  17. Word – John 1:1  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
  18. Word of God – Revelation 19:13 and his name is called The Word of God.
  • To know he will always be there
  • To know he is love
  • To know he is powerful
  • To know he is our teacher
  • To know he is truth
  • To know he is our Messiah
  • To know he is our Saviour

In a world of uncertainty to know and trust our heavenly Father should give you peace, joy and comfort.

Do you know him?  If not, don’t you think it’s time to reach out?

Where are your treasures today?

Son be sure to write,

I stare out the cold winter window tonight.

winter window

He was just a young boy seems like moments ago,

And now he is driving down the road.

Where and when did my family spend

It’s been 60 years it’s hard to apprehend

She looked me in my eyes,

I can almost hear her sing the lullaby.

Dad where are you off to today,

Can you watch me play?

Where and when did my family spend

It’s been 60 years  it’s hard to apprehend.

She told me she prays for me,

I watch the clock and just want to flee.

church clock

My pastor wants to make sure I know,

It’s not just stories, words and a show.

Where and when did my family spend,

It’s been 60 years I so want to make amends.

Poem by Brenda l Bennett

My prayer for you today: May your treasures be with your family, an abundance of love, the church and spreading the good news about our Almighty Savior Jesus Christ.

This poem is based on the Sunday’s sermon and the scriptures:

Psalm 69:19 Blessed be the Lords, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah

Haggai 1:6 Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, by ye have not enoguh; ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye clothe you, but there in none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages to put it inot a bag with holes.

Which King do you serve?

Sundays are the highlight of the week, it’s the time I get to fellowship with the Lord and the church.  I sit in the very first pew in front of the pulpit.  I am eager with anticipation of the sermon for the morning.  I know my soul will be lifted to endure yet another week of uncertainty and doing God’s will.  Today’s sermon was to take a hard look of oneself and determine- Which King I am serving?

Being a saved bible believing Christian, my first thought was Jesus Christ my risen Savior, but after listening to the Holy Spirit fill the pastor with the words of the living God, I needed to take a close look at who I have really been serving.

Upon searching, I find in II Cor 11:14 II Corinthians 11-14

for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light

This is very important:  did you actually read this, read it one more time.

It does NOT state Satan is light, it states Satan can transform himself into.  Wow, I don’t know about you but I am thinking and reading – very cunning, sly and deceitful when I read this passage.

We read in Acts, Ananias lying to Peter after he sold a possession and holds back part of the price. Read: Acts 5

But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land?

How many times do I find myself in a position of being dishonest to Jesus Christ?

  • Tomorrow I will read three chapters in the bible, I just am to tired tonight
  • Tomorrow I will pray and give thanksgiving three times to the Lord
  • Tomorrow I will not say unkind words to those I am struggle with in my life
  • Tomorrow I will help out at the food kitchen
  • Tomorrow I will help out an elderly in need
  • Tomorrow’s list keeps growing and doesn’t happen

This is the constant battle between:

King of Light – Jesus Christ – things which are of the Spirit

King of Darkness – Satan – things which are of the flesh

Which King are you serving?

In Romans 8:5-8 we read

For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.

For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

In Romans 13: 12-14 we read how to be that of light and not darkness.

The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.

Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.

But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

King of Darkness – Satan – things which are of the flesh

I have an extra $50, I really love these shoes. I have 10 pairs of black shoes, but these shoes will go with the new red sweater, I just got during the Holidays.

King of Light – Jesus Christ – things which are of the Spirit

I have an extra $50, I remember Pastor sharing there is a new Pastor in the church community just south of us.  He is new to the area and does not have a place to live or a job, as of yet.  I am going to be sure to put this extra money into the offering plate with a note: to the new pastor in need.

Which King are you serving?

In Romans 12:2 we read:

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Then in 1 John 1:5-7:

This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:

But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

King of Darkness – Satan – things which are of the flesh

Sunday football is against the two best teams of the season.  I know it’s during my church’s nightly service but just this one time I will miss church. I know I will go next week and just pray for forgiveness.

King of Light – Jesus Christ – things which are of the Spirit

Sunday- Pastor told us we are going to have a preacher coming in to preach the gospel.  He and his family are only in the area just Sunday and Sunday night; and then they will be heading back to China.  I am very excited to meet him and his family.

Another blessing was heard about how God is working through this Pastor and his family in teaching those in China about God’s love.  I am so happy I got there early to fellowship with him, his family and my church family.

Which King are you serving?

We even read when Jesus was questioned in Matthew 4:5-11:

Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,

And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.

Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;

And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.

Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.

Can you hear him, the devil saying I will give you all of this Jesus, just bow down to me? You can have it all and so much more, just bow down to me?

We struggle with the devil every single day:

  • It’s alright to eat those extra donuts, it taste so good and so what if your sugar level raises, you know it will be alright. Being a diabetic is sure hard work.
  • Did I tell you about Sally and her husband’s fight last night.  You are not going to believe what Sally did.
  • I know my wife wants to go out on date nights, once a week, but she needs to understand I have a right to be with the boys.  Why doesn’t she get it?
  • I want to go to the concert.  I have been waiting for the past year to see them and I can justify the costs of the tickets.  I am sure I can come up with a $100 somewhere and my husband will never even need to know the cost.

Which King are you serving?

James 4:7

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”

Galatians 2: 20

I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

1 John 2:14-17

I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one.

Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

or all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

We live in a spiritual battle every single day but the good news is, as we read above in Romans 13: 12, as long as we put on the armour of light, stay faithful and true to our heavenly father, we will be blessed by serving the most Holy of Holy Kings and the most Powerful and Almighty Lord each and every day.

Which King are you serving?

Day 6 Isaiah’s vision and calling

1) Saw the LORD sitting upon his throne

What do you think you might do, if you saw the Lord sitting upon his throne?  It’s hard to imagine not alone have a clear vision, but we do know Isaiah 6:5 tells us – Isaiah reacts strongly and does not feel at all worthy.

2) We can read the Lord was:

  • high and lifted
  • his train filled the temple
  • the posts moved from the seraphims
  • the house was filled with smoke

3) We read in 6:5 – not only does Isaiah feel unworthy but Isaiah knows the people are unworthy.

  • Are you in a situation where you do not feel worthy?
  • Do you find yourself around people who are also feeling unworthy?

Definition of worthy:  deserving effort, attention or respect. Worthy can mean – righteous, moral, good, ethical, high-minded, upstanding, principled, exemplary, law-abiding, irreproachable, blameless, guiltless, unimpeachable, honest, reputable, decent, noble and respectable.

God uses Isaiah to further his own good. Isaiah hears God’s calling and goes.

  • Have you heard God’s calling?
  • Have you answered?
    • “Hear I am; send me”.

Song: Here I am Lord

Chapter 6 has loaded us with many ideas and thoughts to ponder.  Let us take a moment to pray and get out hearts right with the Lord.

Can you hear God calling?

In Chapter 12 of Genesis verse one Genesis Chapter 12:1 we read about Abram’s calling.

In Deuteronomy Chapter 21:23 Deuteronomy 21:23 we read about Joshua’s calling.

In Acts 26:16 Acts 26:16 we read about Paul’s calling on his way to Damascus.

Are you listening?

Do you hear God’s calling?

Satan is always making you feel unworthy and not capable of God’s calling, but look at the blessings you will receive if you just listen and go. God loves each and every one of us and needs us to further his will.

Thank you for joining me on Day 6 of studying the Book of Isaiah.  I look forward to your comments and thoughts. Keep listening. 🙂
