Day 13 The Study of the Book of Isaiah

God’s Faithfulness & Grace

As we continue to study the book of Isaiah chapters 49-54, we can fully comprehend God’s faithfulness and grace to his chosen people.  I don’t know about you; but I get a feeling of warmth whenever I read about God’s grace.  In our previous readings, we know how many times God’s chosen people have turned against him; but still we see God’s faithfulness and grace is never ending.  God is so faithful he sends his only Son, Jesus, our Savior and Messiah so we can be assured of his promise.

Isaiah 49: 6-8 And he said, It is a light thing that thou shouldest be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel: I will also give thee for a light to the Gentiles, that thou mayest be my salvation unto the end of the earth.

Thus saith the LORD, the Redeemer of Israel, and his Holy One, to him whom man despiseth, to him whom the nation abhorreth, to a servant of rulers, Kings shall see and arise, princes also shall worship, because of the LORD that is faithful, and the Holy One of Israel, and he shall choose thee.

Thus saith the LORD, In an acceptable time have I heard thee, and in a day of salvation have I helped thee: and I will preserve thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, to establish the earth, to cause to inherit the desolate heritages;

Isaiah 49:13Sing, O heavens; and be joyful, O earth; and break forth into singing, O mountains: for the LORD hath comforted his people, and will have mercy upon his afflicted.

The Lord is:

  • faithful
  • will preserve
  • will have mercy

This brings so much hope when I read this in the book of Isaiah. Our Father in heaven is a God of promises and hope for a world that continues to turn their backs on him.

Isaiah 51:3 For the LORD shall comfort Zion: he will comfort all her waste places; and he will make her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of the LORD; joy and gladness shall be found therein, thanksgiving, and the voice of melody.

We read in Isaiah 51:15, the greatness and powerful of our Father. God continues to make his name known to all and yet his children still do not see his power and might.

Isaiah 52:6 Therefore my people shall know my name: therefore they shall know in that day that I am he that doth speak: behold, it is I.

Time and time again, I hear people say where is God when things go bad, why did God let this happen and if God is so powerful then why can’t he change things for the better.  However, all the time God is by our sides and allowing trials and adversities to happen so we turn to him. So, we don’t become complacent and feel we don’t need him any more.

As I read Isaiah 53:5 I decided to make this personal, as if our Father God was speaking directly to me.

But, he was wounded for Brenda‘s transgressions, he was bruised for Brenda‘s iniquities, the chastisement of Brenda‘s peace was upon him; and with his strips Brenda is healed.

Replace your name and let it resonate in your heart, then ask yourself where is God?   I know when I read this, he is right next to me and has not forsaken me.

In chapter 54:9-10, we read our Father’s reminders, how great and faithful our Lord is:

For this is as the waters of Noah unto me: for as I have sworn that the waters of Noah should no more go over the earth; so have I sworn that I would not be wroth with thee, nor rebuke thee.

10 For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed; but my kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed, saith the LORD that hath mercy on thee.

And lastly, Isaiah 54:17

No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.

God’s faithfulness and promises throughout the historical bible, give us hope in today’s world, that once again we see and know his people have turned their back on our Father God.  Our Lord Almighty will remain faithful and continue to be beside those that truly seek, trust, obey and follow him.

May you continue to reach and seek God’s word and lean not unto your own understanding.

Blessings to you, on this glorious day we have been given to continue to do God’s will.  Amen
