Day 18 of Luke Chapter 18

Prayer – the importance of prayer.  How is your prayer life today?  Are you trusting on the promises of God? Are you being faithful in prayer?

Luke 18:1 reads: And he spake a parable unto them, to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint, (faint means:  Feeble; not vigorous; not active)

Pray: (Websters Dictionary 1828) To ask with earnestness or zeal, as for a favor, or for something desirable; to entreat; to supplicate.

Hebrews 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

Luke 18:2 reads: Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man: Do you think the judge prayed?  Do you think the judge came boldly unto the throne of grace? Do you think the judge asked with earnestness or zeal to give him wisdom to judge righteously?

Psalms 67:4 “O let the nations be glad and sing for joy: for thou shalt judge the people righteously, and govern the nations upon earth. Selah.”

How can one judge people righteously if they do not pray for wisdom from the Lord? After all we read clearly in John 15:7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

The word is IF – if you abide in the Lord, if you follow God’s commandments, if you pray faithfully, if you seek God’s wisdom, again the word is IF.  Then, it shall be done unto you.

At times it seems so very simple but yet we fail.  We fail to follow, we fail to pray, we fail to be faithful and, we fail to seek God.  Lord, humble me to be allowed to do your will and abide in you more than me (self). Help me to be in prayer every day not just some days.

May you continue to prepare your hearts to knowing the truth about Jesus and lean not unto your own understanding but search the living word of God.

Thank you for reading day eighteen of my journey through the book of Luke.
