1 Samuel 13 My Study Notes

S.O.A.K. method – Scripture, Observe, Application and Kneel in prayer.

S: 14 But now thy kingdom shall not continue: the LORD hath sought him a man after his own heart, and the LORD hath commanded him to be captain over his people, because thou hast not kept that which the LORD commanded thee.

O: after his own heart – what does this look like for a Christian. A man after his heart honors the LORD. An example would be David. David wanted to do the will of God and Saul was more concerned with doing Saul’s own will. A man after his heart knows God is the only King. David served God to honor him but Saul did this to only win the battle. A man after his own heart has a soft and repentant heart. When David sinned he stated he had done so but when Saul sinned he made excuses.

A: We can love God and pursue him; even if we have sinned. I know I am guilty of not owning up to my sins and making excuses.

K: Father God, help me to have a heart which is after your own. Help me be a servant like David, even though he sinned he owned up to it and repented. Thank you for giving us the living word of God, so we have a set of standards and commandments to live by. I pray for all the ladies in the group that their hearts be opened and softened by you word. Amen.

May you continue to search the word of the living God and not lean unto your own understanding.

Psalm 139:23,24

Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:

And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

May you take the time to listen to God, and his will for you today.
