My Church Notes – Life

Where did a year go (next month), since, I have taken the time to pour out my heart on my blog.  I know with my new job at the university, my experiences of life certainly moves by like a twinkle of a star.  I know my mom told me, “when you get my age, time will seem to fly right by”.  Well, I guess I finally made it because that’s what is happening.

I decided I will attempt to blog on my church notes- why- because I attend a bible believing, preaching and teaching church.  My advice to anyone who wants to understand and grow deeper with the Lord.

  1. Read your bible daily – this will provide you with peace and an understanding which only you will know because God reveals himself to you through his word.  Joshua 1:8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
  2. Find a church which preaches the word of God from a King James Bible and not the NKJB. It seems like everyone wants to make the bible better or easier to understand but Jesus answers this in John 18:66 Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence. Many people want their world to fit into the bible to make it right and hence so many versions of the bible.  Do yourself a huge favor – just stick with the King James Bible and know this has outlasted all to be the truest to God’s word when it was translated into English.

June 4, 2017 – taken from John Chapter 1

*Life – verse 4 – in him was life.  Where do we get life from?

  • In him was life; and the life was the light of men. John 1:4  pexels-photo-266011.jpeg

We get life from Jesus.  Read Deuteronomy 30: 19-20

  • I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live: **

That thou mayest love the Lord thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the Lord sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.

**God never intended for abortions.  Jesus is Pro-life.

Life is the light of men. Jesus provides light to anyone who wants it.

  • Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. John 8:12

Who is – “I Am” – Jesus

  • And God said unto Moses, I Am That I Am: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I Am hath sent me unto you. Exodus 3:14

Light – how am I able to have light?

  • Who is among you that feareth the Lord, that obeyeth the voice of his servant, that walketh in darkness, and hath no light? let him trust in the name of the Lord, and stay upon his God. Isaiah 50:10

How am I able to know Jesus is a living?

  • As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world. John 9:5

The world is darkness – the world represents our lusts, sins, pride and unloving selves, all of which is darkness.  A husband cheats on his wife – lust.  A child hides taking a candy bar from the store and lies to his parents – sins. My boat is the best of the year and can easily out move your paddle boat – pride.  My boss asked me to take on the work load of my co-worker when she will be out for the next 12 weeks, why would I possibly want to do that even if I could- unloving.  And the darkness goes on and on…. only Jesus can provide the light we need to enjoy an abundance amount of peace and joy.

Why do men/women love darkness?

Let’s read – John 3:19-21

  • And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.

21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

and – John 12:43-47

  •  For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.

44 Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me.

45 And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me.

46 I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.

47 And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.

Where are you at in your faith journey with Christ?  Are you in darkness or in light?

May you continue to not lean unto your own understanding but search the word of our living God.

Luke Chapter 4 – My Study Notes

Luke_19-10

S.O.A.K. method – Scripture which speaks to my hear, observation, application and kneel in prayer.

S: 13 And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season.

O: Jesus is tempted at his weakest moment. He is hungry and tired. However, Jesus still preaches the word of God. As the word is his shield against the devil.

Deuteronomy 8:3 And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live.

He tells Satan to get behind him.

James 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you).

A: Satan uses our own desires against us in hopes of doing wrong. (

James 1:13,14 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.

We may even tempt God and question him.

1 Corinthians 10:9 Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents.

God may test us but never to appeal us to evil.

Hebrews 11:17 By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son.

We need to be strong in the word as Satan may leave us for a short while and work on someone else’s heart and lives but he returns again and again.

K: Lord, I seek your will and your word today to remind me of how Satan tempts us and tries to trick us into seeing something wrong as good. I pray I can be better equipped with scripture to help me fight off those who are evil and against me. Amen.

May you continue to search the word of our living God and not lean unto your own understanding.

Luke Chapter 3 – My Study Notes

Luke_19-10

S.O.A.K.  Scripture which speaks to my heart, observation, application and kneel in prayer

Chap 3

S: 23-38 For me I love the genealogy of Mary.

O: This is a means of a scientific fact that proves this is not a made up story.

A: Many times I will hear nonbelievers state something about how can you believe a book written years ago and how do you not know it’s just a bunch of made up stories. The Holy Bible is a historical preserved book. That in itself gives me the goosebumps because I own something so valuable that I can’t even put a price on it.

K: Lord, thank you for preserving your word for all who want to read and know you better. I continue to lift up the names of the ladies in our group and pray you would touch their hearts to read your word everyday. Even if it’s just a verse but something so they will start to get to know you better and feel the love and blessings you will provide. Our lives seem to be busy and distractions seem to get in the way, but I pray each one of the ladies would take time and set it aside just for you. Jesus died for each of us so we would not spend eternity away from you. For me, one way to show you how much I am thankful and grateful is reading your word each and everyday. With love and thanks I give you all praise, glory and honor Lord. Amen.

May you continue to search the word of our living Saviour and not lean unto your own understanding.

Luke Chapter 2 – My Study Notes

Luke_19-10

S.O.A.K. Method – Scripture which speaks to my heart, Observation, Application and Kneel in prayer

S: 12 And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

O: Dr De Young shared this and I wanted to share it with you ladies: Dr. Luke records what the angel said to the shepherds, that they would find the newborn babe, “God-man”, Jesus Christ, “in a manger wrapped in swaddling clothes”.

For the longest time I could not understand why that would be a “sign” to the shepherds. Then one day I ran across a comment about the connection to the sign in a place in the Shepherd’s Fields called the “Tower of the Flock”.

In the Hebrew, the phrase is, “Migdal Edar.” “Migdal” is Hebrew for “tower” and “Edar” is “flock” in the Hebrew language. The phrase is only used twice in the Bible – Genesis 35:21 and Micah 4:8.

In the Genesis passage, “Migdal Edar” is referring to the location where Jacob pitched his tent after he buried his wife Rachel who had died in childbirth. “Migdal Edar” is on the road between Bethlehem, where Rachel was buried, and the city of Jerusalem, which is only three miles away.

The other mention of “Migdal Edar” or “tower of the flock” in Micah 4:8 is a prophecy that the announcement of the Messiah would be at “Migdal Edar”. This location, “Migdal Edar”, has been known by the religious Jews for centuries, as the place where the announcement of the “Messiah” will take place.

I must tell you that “Migdal Edar” was a watchtower in the Shepherd’s Fields of Bethlehem. It was a two-story stone structure out in the fields. On the top story, a shepherd, a “priestly shepherd” would stand watching over the flock to make certain that the sheep were not being harmed.

Remember, the sheep raised in the Shepherd’s Fields of Bethlehem were destined for the “temple sacrifice” three miles away. Also, these sheep must be without blemish or spot, perfect in order to be sacrificed. Bethlehem’s “shepherd’s fields” was the “holding pen for the sacrificial lambs”.

The bottom floor of “Migdal Edar” was for the “birthing” of these lambs. From the beginning, these lambs must be perfect. The “priestly shepherd” would take the newborn lamb and wrap it in “swaddling clothes” to keep it from harming its limbs. After wrapping the baby lamb, the shepherd would lay it in a “manger” until the newborn had calmed down.

These priestly shepherds knew this procedure and, when told it would be ab sign, they re-called Micahn 4:8 and with haste, Luke 2:16, ran to see the newborn Jesus, the Son of God.

A: How many of us know how to be truly humble and fully obedient to the Lord?

K: Lord I want to continue my journey knowing you more and more each day. Keep me humble in your word and allow me to be a servant for your will.

May you continue to search the living word of God and not lean unto your own understanding.

Luke – My Study Notes – Chapter 1

Luke_19-10

S.O.A.K. Method – Scripture which speaks to my heart, observe, application and kneel in prayer.

Chapter  1

S: 35 And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

O: This is a clear representation of the trinity. Notice- The Holy Ghost will come upon thee, The Highest (God the Father) will overshadow thee and the Son of God will be born to thee.

A: Many times people refer to God, Jesus and Holy Spirit as separate identities. However, we know this is not true. It’s beyond my comprehension that all three are one but I have faith and believe what God is sharing with me.

K: Father God, thank you for your word so we are able to learn and grow as Christians. Thank you for leaving us a book full of promises and answers. All we need to do is search and know you are always there with us in the midst. For this, I am truly thankful and feel blessed. Amen.
